The judge overseeing a claim that Jay-Z raped a 13-year-old girl at a Diddy party handed a setback to Jay-Z and his hard-charging attorney on Thursday. The judge denied Jay-Z’s bid to identify the now-adult accuser.
Judge Analisa Torres gave him until the middle of January to file a detailed response to her allegations. He has publicly and bitterly denied it. Judge Analisa Torres also targeted Alex Spiro. Alex is the high-profile and aggressive attorney Carter has retained to fight his case. The judge tore into Spiro for the “relentless filing of combative motions containing inflammatory language and ad hominem attacks.” She warned him his conduct was “inappropriate, a waste of judicial resources, and a tactic unlikely to benefit his client.”
Spiro has also acted for Elon Musk and Alec Baldwin. He currently represents allegedly corrupt New York Mayor Eric Adams. The defeat in the first round of litigation marks a setback for Carter, 55, who has lashed out in public at her allegations. Calling them “idiotic.” Carter expresses heartbreak over Beyoncé. Having to inform their children about the allegations.
Meanwhile, Forbes recently released its 2024 Most Powerful Women list, and fans were quick to notice that Beyonce had a slight name change when it came to her last name. In the list, the “Carter” in her full name was dropped.
A soft launch name change perhaps?
In October, the woman who filed the suit accusing Combs of drugging and raping her; expanded her allegations by naming Carter. As Buzbee began filing a series of lawsuits against Combs in October. Carter claimed that Buzbee sent him a demand letter on Nov. 5 that he felt was a thinly veiled blackmail attempt. In response, Carter filed an extortion lawsuit against Buzbee as a John Doe on Nov. 17 and later confirmed he was the plaintiff when he was named in Jane Doe’s complaint on Dec. 8. Carter’s team says Tony Buzbee was trying to extort him.
Jay-Z currently has a lawsuit pending against Buzbee. He has also been vocal about Buzzbee on social media. Buzbee has vowed to go after other “high-profile” celebrities who he claimed were involved or complicit in the alleged abuse. Carter’s team believes Buzbee is acting inappropriately on social platforms. Potentially tainting jury selection.
According to the lawsuit, Jane Doe, the plaintiff, attempted to enter the VMAs at Radio City Music Hall that year without a ticket. Although she was unsuccessful. A limousine driver later offered her an invite to an afterparty with celebrity guests. The complaint claims that the driver informed her that she “fitted what Diddy was looking for.” The suit states that she waited for 20 minutes for the limo driver to come back. After consuming a small portion of a drink at the party, the plaintiff started feeling sick.
She found an empty bedroom to lie down in, but Combs and Carter, along with another female celebrity, soon interrupted her plans. Combs allegedly approached her and said, “You are ready to party!” The suit alleges Combs and Carter raped her, while the unnamed celebrity, named only as Celebrity B, watched. After punching Combs in the neck, the teenager managed to escape the bedroom. She then fled from the house to a nearby gas station, where she allegedly called her father for help.
Many have disputed her claims. She claimed to have met Benji Madden; it never happened. Benji Madden, from Good Charlotte, wasn’t even in New York for the VMAs. The infamous images of J.Lo and Diddy arguing at Lotus nightclub. We know they were there longer than 20 minutes. The timing of the alleged incident. Which reportedly took place at a house away from the nightclub, casts doubt on the dynamics of what ACTUALLY happened that night. After Googling the mapped distance from Lotus to Radio City it’s only 19 minutes, so is her time frame off?
Serious allegations now cloud the period of Diddy and Lopez’s relationship. The couple stayed together for another five months, eventually splitting in February 2001.
“These admissions render the timeline, location, and occurrence of events alleged in Plaintiff’s complaint impossible,” Jay-Z’s lawyer wrote. Jay-Z’s team pointed out a glaring inconsistency in the accuser’s claim of an alleged attack at a private residence afterparty. Jay-Z’s lawyers pointed out that they actually photographed Diddy at two separate afterparties at nightclubs following the 2000 VMAs. Both Twirl and Lotus in New York City hosted Puffy that night. How long were they there? We don’t know.
“Taken together, the factual inconsistencies, timeline impossibilities, and the lack of corroborating evidence make Plaintiff’s allegations… wholly unreliable,” the rapper’s lawyer wrote.
In December, Carter capitalized on an admission the woman made to NBC News. The interviewer revealed inconsistencies in her account. “I have made some mistakes,” she admitted to the site. Carter stated in court documents that the admission proved her case lacked any factual foundation. Bolstering his argument for the woman’s name.
Buzbee assured that his law firm would thoroughly investigate these claims. A different firm vetted the case and referred it to the Buzbee Law Firm, he admitted. So, how seriously is he taking this? One mistake could free Diddy.
But in her Thursday ruling. The judge concluded that, for now, the woman will remain a Jane Doe. Although she said, that could change near the trial. Carter has refuted his friendship with Combs, with whom he has shared numerous photographs over the years. Spiro said the two had no “longtime bond” and told NBC News, “Just because they knew each other, know each other, that doesn’t mean anything.”
However, unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know this is an untrue statement. The long-standing friendship of Jay-Z and Diddy dates back to the 90s. Beyoncé teamed up with Diddy in 2003 for the song “Summertime.” They’ve partied all over the globe together. Reports have also suggested that Jay-Z and Beyoncé were regular attendees of Diddy’s famous parties.
Diddy’s events also marked the release of new music for Jay and Bey. After becoming the biggest names in the rap industry, Jay-Z and Diddy teamed up for a joint cause in 2005, donating USD 1 million to the Hurricane Katrina relief fund. Both rappers expressed how they wanted to stand together for their community in times of suffering. In August 2007, Jay-Z and Diddy teamed up for a performance at the touring hip-hop festival Screamfest with other headliners including 50 Cent and TI.
After the Rock N Roll Of Hip Hop exhibition featured a photo of Diddy and Jay-Z chatting up during his birthday party. Diddy opened up about his friendship with the fellow rapper, saying, “That was at one of my birthday parties, and I was just telling him I appreciate him coming.” He further added, “He was on tour, and he flew in private after one of his shows just to come to that party.
Then he had to fly back out. I was just telling him how much I appreciated it and how much I value our friendship. People see us as competitors and different icons in the hip-hop game, but that was just a moment of two Black brothers telling each other how much they appreciate each other.”
Jay-Z paid a special tribute to his friend in a video message as Diddy received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 BET Awards. Speaking about their shared experience of coming from similar backgrounds, he gushed about Diddy, saying, “Here’s this guy from a neighborhood similar to where I grew up that made it to these unreachable heights. Puff was the first one that came through and made us feel like it was us.”
Yeah, it sounds like he knows “nothing”!
How the civil case against Carter will proceed remains unclear because it is part of the case against Combs. Who we know is facing criminal trial on charges of rape and sex trafficking. Combs is also vehemently denying all charges and is awaiting trial in the “hellhole” federal lockup in Brooklyn, New York. It seems as if Spiro is trying to spare Sean Carter the same fate.
