Diddy and Jay-Z Cleared as Woman Drops Rape Lawsuit

By Alice Redpill

Representatives for Buzbee have not responded to requests for comment regarding this sudden shift in the case’s direction.

Sean “Diddy” Combs is scheduled to face a criminal trial in May concerning sex trafficking and numerous sexual assault allegations. However, both he and Jay-Z have been “cleared” of the accusations regarding the rape of a 13-year-old girl in 2000.

JayZ on the night in question.

In a decisive move, the plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, through her legal counsel, has officially filed a notice to voluntarily dismiss the case with prejudice. The woman, now an adult, and her lawyers acknowledged in response to questions from NBC News that there were inconsistencies in her account when the lawsuit was refiled in December to name Jay-Z. Still, they said that she stood by her allegations.

The suit alleged the incident occurred in 2000. This two-page filing, submitted on Friday, ends a sensational legal battle that has persisted since October. The attorney for the plaintiff, Tony Buzbee, representing nearly 100 clients against the heavily accused Combs, confirmed that they have consulted with the defense counsel, who have acknowledged and consented to the dismissal.

In a lengthy statement posted on his Roc Nation social media feed, Jay-Z, a.k.a. Shawn Carter, slammed the long-festering matter while celebrating it’s end simultaneously. “This civil suit was without merit and never going anywhere,” the statement said. “The fictional tale they created was laughable if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone. The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones, and I have endured can never be dismissed.”

Jay-Z has been identified as “Celebrity A” in a refiling by Buzbee on December 8. This action follows a separate lawsuit filed by an anonymous “celebrity and public figure” represented by Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, who resides in Los Angeles. It has since been confirmed that this individual is Jay-Z, and he is actively pursuing legal action against the Texas lawyer for extortion.

Jay-Z has consistently maintained his innocence regarding the “heinous” rape. A term he used in his statements late last year. In the pursuit of justice, his lead lawyer, Alex Spiro, has pointed out inconsistencies in Jane Doe’s narrative. Particularly noting her acknowledgment of “mistakes” during her mid-December NBC interview. The defense has also sought to clarify the situation by attempting to reveal the plaintiff’s real name and to address concerns over what they perceive as a “lack of diligence” in the case, aimed at promoting fairness and accountability in the legal process.

Jay-Z’s attorney, Alex Spiro, says there’s no relationship between his client and Diddy outside of a professional context.

As of February 10, significant developments occurred in the case, removing Combs’ Bad Boy Records as a defendant. This decision likely stems from the overlap in the corporate divisions within the once-mogul’s extensive portfolio.

Representatives for Buzbee have not responded to requests for comment regarding this sudden shift in the case’s direction. Should they provide a statement, this post will be updated. Meanwhile, with no reference to Beyoncé, Carter’s lead attorney has expressed his position with the same level of bluntness as his client.

“The false case against Jay-Z, that never should have been brought, has been dismissed with prejudice,” said the ’99 Problems’ longtime attorney Alex Spiro today after the filing in federal court by the Buzbee Firm. “By standing up in the face of heinous and false allegations, Jay has done what few can – he pushed back, he never settled, he never paid 1 red penny, he triumphed and cleared his name.”

“May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally,” Carter said.

Diddy’s attorney firmly criticized Buzbee and all of his client’s accusers in a statement issued Friday afternoon:

Sean Combs has not sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—regardless of gender or age. No amount of lawsuits, sensationalized allegations, or media theatrics will alter this undeniable truth. We are committed to vigorously fighting these unfounded claims and pursuing accountability for those spreading them. This is merely the first of many cases that will ultimately falter in a court of law. To clarify, the term “with prejudice” indicates that the case cannot be refiled in its current form.

However, it’s important to note that Combs has been detained at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest on September 16. Despite multiple failed attempts to secure his release on $50 million bail, he is prepared to face trial on serious charges including racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, set to commence on May 5.
