Soulja Boy Calls Out Plies For Suing Him Over Allegedly Sampling His Song In “Pretty Boy Swag”

By Alice Redpill

Plies’ lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles federal court and seeks damages, attorneys’ fees, and court costs. The lawsuit claims that the defendants knew they were infringing on Plies’ copyright and didn’t take action to resolve the issue. Plies claims that the 2024 summer smash”Wanna Be” by Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla samples his 2008 song “Me & My Goons” without permission.”Wanna Be” was remixed to include Cardi B. Making it one of the hottest tracks of the summer!

Plies also claims that Soulja Boy’s 2010 song Pretty Boy Swag” illegally samples “Me & My Goons”. The suit also names Meg’s Hot Girl Productions, Soulja’s former imprint Collipark Productions, and record labels Universal Music Group, Collective Music Group and Interscope Records as defendants. There’s since been a new challenger approaching the conversation. Megan’s “Wanna Be” producer LilJuMadeDaBeat lashed out at the lawsuit, claiming his squad sampled Soujla Boy fair and square!

Legal documents filed by Plies, claims his 2008 track “Me & My Goons” first got jacked by Soulja Boy in 2010 on his “Pretty Boy Swag” anthem. And while the Beats are almost identical. Soulja Boy claims they’re “All original!”

In a recently recorded video he realized on Youtube, Soulja Boy had some words for Piles’. “Sit your broke a** down. Pretty boy swag, is not your beat! So you wanna wait ten years to try to sue a n*gga for some beats? That is NOT YOUR beat. Crazy man.” He continues. “You need to change your name to lies. Because that’s not your MF beat! You should’ve just said ‘Hey, Bro, I’m broke. Let me hold something.’ That beat is all original music. You only can sue somebody if they sample your song and don’t get it cleared and that’s not a sample bro!”

Soulja boy was NOT having it. While all of the beats on these songs sound similar if not identical. They forget to CREDIT the ORIGINAL owner of the beat. Plies allegedly got his goon ‘juice’ from Lil Wil’s club classic “My Dougie”. My Dougie was released December 25, 2007 on Unauthorized Entertainment. Piles released his CD with the track on it in December of 08′.

Walter (Piles attorney) suggests Plies had a good faith agreement with Soulja Boy that’s since run its course. With Megan using the track to create a hit record of her own with the Hotties; it just complicated matters further.

Although Me and my Goons was the first track of Piles 3 studio album, Piles didn’t even release the song as a single. Do you think everyone can settle out or court or do we think Piles really is THAT “broke”?
